P-pop boy group BGYO has announced that they are dropping the legal case against one of their online bashers, Rachelle Galang, after she issued a public apology for spreading malicious content about the group.
In a press conference held on Friday, September 6, the members of BGYO—Gelo Rivera, JL Toreliza, Mikki Claver, Nate Porcalla, and Akira Morishita—alongside their legal counsel, Atty. Joji Alonso, accepted Galang’s apology.
Galang admitted to posting a video on TikTok last April 23, 2024, filled with hate and false accusations against the group. She immediately deleted the video after realizing the baseless nature of her claims.
“Noong April 23, 2024, ako po ay nag-upload ng video sa aking TikTok account na naglalaman ng hate, bashing at false accusations laban sa BGYO na walang ebidensya at purong paninirang puri laban sa kanila.”
“Noong gabi ring ‘yon, agad kong binura ang na-upload na video dahil sa pagsisisi at alam ko po sa aking sarili na walang katotohanan ang mga nasabi ko.”
“Ako po ay nagsisisi sa aking nagawa at gusto kong itama ang aking pagkakamali,” Galang said in her statement.
In response, BGYO acknowledged her remorse and decided to drop the legal charges. “Tatanggapin po namin ang kanyang pag-amin ng pagkakamali. Bilang konsiderasyon na lang din po sa kanyang pamilya, ay iuurong po namin ang kaso laban sa kanya,” said the group, as read by leader Gelo Rivera.
However, BGYO clarified that they would continue to pursue other cases filed against remaining bashers, emphasizing the need to stop the spread of baseless and defamatory content online. They encouraged victims of cyberbullying to stand up for themselves, stressing the importance of fighting back against false information.
