Outrage has erupted online following a Facebook Live session by Mark Andrew Yulo, the father of Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo, during which he made several controversial and insensitive remarks about his son and his son’s girlfriend, Chloe San Jose.
On the evening of September 6, Mark’s live broadcast took a contentious turn when he read a comment from a follower who claimed to live near Carlos’s condominium in Taguig City. Mark responded with a joking suggestion to the follower, saying, “Pakibatukan nga si Caloy diyan. Malapit ka pala sa condo niya. Pakibatukan nga si Caloy diyan kapag nakita mo.” The remark, intended as a joke, has been widely criticized for its inappropriate nature.
Throughout the broadcast, Mark made additional comments about Carlos and Chloe, including, “Nawa’y magbago yung dalawa” and “Ipagdasal na lang natin si Caloy saka si Goldie”. He further remarked, “Ano sila eh, nasa alapaap eh. Hindi pa nila alam ‘yung mga mangyayaring karma. Joke lang”.
Mark also addressed allegations of financial dependency, responding, “Paano ko ginatasan? Baka ako ang ginatasan ni Caloy. Kinuha niya yung semilya ko tapos ginanyan lang niya kami”.
