Sam Milby addresses fears about losing spotlight

Actor Sam Milby recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN, where he opened up about his concerns over the industry’s unpredictable nature and the possibility of losing the limelight.

Despite an impressive career, the 39-year-old actor admitted that the thought of stepping out of the spotlight can be unsettling.

“This is not a secure job… you have to accept that there’s always gonna be someone new, someone better looking, someone more talented,” Milby said, acknowledging that showbiz fame can be fleeting.

Currently, he stars in ‘Saving Grace,’ an adaptation of a Japanese series, and is preparing for a new film project set to release next year—projects he considers a “safety net” that gives him comfort amid his concerns about longevity.

Reflecting on his career, Milby shared how the industry has changed since he first rose to fame on Pinoy Big Brother in 2005. “I only came here sa Philippines for vacation… and I’m still here after 19 years,” he mused. He admitted feeling fortunate to have entered the industry before the age of social media, which he says now adds pressure on young artists to build identities around online comments and validation.

Milby also addressed the impact of rumors and gossip in showbiz, saying that misinformation can often take precedence over the truth. “There’s so many things that go around that people believe without proof… It’s sad because they believe something kahit walang pruweba,” he said, emphasizing how sensationalized stories can overshadow reality.

Although he’s seen younger stars enter the industry, Milby views the fast-paced nature of showbiz with acceptance. “It’s a young business, mas lalo dito sa Pilipinas,” he observed. Despite the constant turnover, Milby’s recent contract renewal with ABS-CBN has given him a renewed sense of security and confidence. “Knowing that I’m still being supported… and they trust me with projects, it’s comforting,” he shared.

With his sights set on upcoming projects and a continued partnership with ABS-CBN, Milby is ready to face whatever the future holds, grateful for his two decades of success and prepared to embrace new challenges in the industry.
