Actress Jennylyn Mercado delighted fans recently with her playful transformation into “Binilyn Mercado,” mimicking the signature style and moves of the popular P-pop girl group, BINI.
This fun moment, which quickly went viral, also carried a heartfelt backstory.
During the grand opening of her revamped salon, DYLN Style Lounge, on November 30 at Maginhawa Street, Quezon City, Jennylyn shared how the idea came about.
“Nung parang second to the last song ko na, tapos recording, sobrang tagal kami magka-schedule dahil alam naman nating busy si Sir Jonathan (Manalo of Star Music). Ang dami niyang pinoproduce na songs, ang daming hinahandle na artists so, sabi ko, ‘Ano kaya kung pumunta tayo sa kanya tapos – basagin ko lang si Sir Jonathan. Masaya lang,” she revealed.
Jennylyn borrowed a costume worn by BINI’s Mikha, thanks to her manager’s connection with the group’s stylist. She humorously recalled that not all outfits fit her. “Hindi kasya, ang papayat ng mga Bini.”

In the Instagram video that has fans buzzing, Jennylyn is seen dancing to BINI’s hit track Salamin Salamin. Dressed in Mikha’s signature outfit, the actress radiated youthful energy, prompting netizens to comment that she looked like a teenager.
The video also documented Jennylyn’s surprise visit to Jonathan Manalo. Entering his office, she greeted him with a big smile and quipped, “’Di mo ‘ko nakikilala? Binilyn Mercado,” much to his amusement. The lighthearted moment was accompanied by her Instagram caption:
