Kapamilya star Daniel Padilla is set to make his mark in the action genre with ‘Incognito’, a new action-drama series from Star Creatives and ABS-CBN.
The project positions him alongside industry veterans Richard Gutierrez and Ian Veneracion in what is expected to be one of 2025’s biggest television events.
Daniel’s foray into action follows the legacy of his father, Rommel Padilla, and uncle, Robin Padilla, both celebrated action stars in Philippine cinema.
At the grand media conference held at the Dolphy Theater last Friday, Daniel was asked if he felt pressure stepping into a role that mirrors his family’s legacy.
“Wala naman silang binibigay na pressure sa ‘kin. Wala rin akong nararamdaman na kaba or anuman,” Daniel said. “I’m just doing my best, ‘yun lang. Kung ano ang kalabasan no’n, eh di that’s it..”
The actor jokingly claimed he might outdo his father, saying, “arang excited na akong ipakita sa erpat ko ‘to. Parang panis siya sa ‘kin,” before laughing and adding, “Joke lang.”
Daniel also reflected on how his approach differs from his family’s iconic styles. “Iba-iba naman ang timpla namin. Magaling si Tito Robin, mahusay siyempre, ‘di ba? Ang tatay ko, nandu’n din, ang mga tito ko pero iba-iba naman kami ng timpla. Tingnan natin kung ano naman ang mai-o-offer ko.”
Known for his romantic-comedy roles, Daniel acknowledged that diving into action was a significant shift. “Siyempre, it’s very different,” he shared. “Pero iba rin ‘to, ito kasi may action. Talagang simula magsimula ang araw mo, adrenaline rush na ‘yun hanggang gabi.”
Despite the intense demands, Daniel revealed that the experience has been rewarding. “Pagkadating mo sa hotel mo, very fulfilling din. Kasi may mga stunts din na hindi madadali. Pero ‘pag nagawa namin ‘yun, it’s very fulfilling.”
Directed by Lester Pimentel, ‘Incognito’ features a star-studded cast including Baron Geisler, Kaila Estrada, Maris Racal, and Anthony Jennings. The series will debut on Netflix on January 17, 2025, followed by releases on iWantTFC (January 18) and other Kapamilya platforms like Kapamilya Channel, Jeepney TV, TV5, and A2Z starting January 20.
