Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has gracefully embraced the reality of her career shift, acknowledging that while she once dominated the music scene, new artists are now taking the spotlight.

In an interview on ‘Ogie Diaz Inspires’ on January 27, Velasquez spoke candidly about how her voice has changed over the years and how she has come to terms with the natural progression of fame in the entertainment industry.

During the interview, host Ogie Diaz praised Velasquez for her mature and realistic perspective, pointing out that not all artists can easily accept that their peak years may have passed.

“Grabe ‘yung acceptance mo ah. ‘Yung iba talaga, kung ano ‘yung estado nila sa buhay, parang hindi nila ma-accept na may mga dumating nang bago, medyo matatabunan ka na,” Diaz remarked.

Velasquez acknowledged that resisting change would only bring frustration.

“It would only hurt you if you don’t accept the reality of show business,” she said.

Despite changes in the industry, Velasquez remains grateful for the opportunities she still has today.

“More than anything else, I’m just grateful na nandito pa ako, may raket pa nga ako. May nakikinig pa rin naman sa akin, may nanonood pa rin ng concert. Hanggang ngayon, nagko-concert pa ako,” she shared.

For Velasquez, showbiz careers operate in cycles, with different artists getting their time in the limelight. She recognizes that she has already had her moment and is at peace with the ebb and flow of popularity.

“In-accept ko na lang na hindi na time. Ganun talaga, we are all given specific time in our lives na, dito ka mabangong-mabango, and then later on, meron nang ibang darating na mas mabango sa ‘yo, pero nandiyan ka pa rin,” she said.

While Velasquez acknowledges the rise of new artists, she reassured fans that she is content with where she is in her career. She continues to perform and remains one of the most respected figures in the music industry.

Regine Velasquez’s reflections serve as a reminder of the importance of humility and gratitude in showbiz.
