Rising P-pop girl group Calista is making a strong comeback with their latest extended play (EP), FOUR: Finding Our Unique Rhythm.
Composed of members Anne, Dain, Denise, and Elle, the group has emerged stronger and more cohesive after facing internal changes over the past two years.

After debuting with their hit single ‘Race Car’ in 2022, Calista has faced challenges, including the departure of two former members. Now under Merlion Entertainment, the group is determined to show their evolution and growth with their new project.
The EP explores various musical styles, reflecting the group’s diverse personalities. Anne, the group leader, emphasized the collaborative effort that went into the project.
“Pinaghandaan po talaga namin ito para magustuhan n’yo. Nagsama-sama kami sa lahat ng ideas. Team effort po talaga!” she said.
The tracks include:
- ‘Alas Dose’, an Afrobeat-inspired anthem showcasing their vocal power and energy.
- ‘LMK (Let Me Know)’, a soulful R&B ballad that highlights emotional depth.
- ‘Bongga Ka Day’, a reimagined version of Hotdog’s classic hit, celebrating Filipino musical heritage.
- ‘Oops My Bad’, a playful track exuding charm and confidence.
- The hidden track ‘Wag Na’, a ballad that underscores their versatility.
The exit of Laiza in 2023 and Olive in early 2024 tested the group’s resilience. Both departures were amicable, with Laiza focusing on her studies and Olive joining Sparkle GMA Artist Center. Despite these changes, the remaining members grew closer and more focused on their music.
“Wala naman po perfect na group, pero lagi namin sinasabi na ang kalaban natin ang sarili natin hindi ang iba,” said Denise. “We continue to challenge ourselves to achieve more and be better.”
Adjustments were made to vocal arrangements and choreography, leading to improved harmonies and stage presence. “We had more time to hone our individualities when it comes to singing,” shared Anne.
With clearer goals and a stronger bond, Calista is confident in their new musical direction. “Our goals are more defined, and I’ve noticed there are fewer disagreements when choosing songs,” said Dain.

Their standout track, ‘Alas Dose’, combines Afrobeat rhythms with a whimsical, Cinderella-themed music video. The EP’s blend of genres reflects the group’s desire to avoid being boxed into a single style.
“The songs have different flavors because we don’t want to be limited to one genre. That way, we can offer something new to our fans,” added Elle.

Calista expressed gratitude to Bini and SB19 for paving the way for P-pop’s growth.
“We’re grateful for the doors opened by Bini and SB19. They introduced P-pop to casual listeners and broadened the market,” said Anne. “Now, we see more groups cropping up and growing. We hope to reach that level of success someday.”
Despite comparisons with other groups, Calista is focused on self-improvement. “Comparisons hinder your growth as an artist. We just want to motivate ourselves and focus on improving our craft,” Anne explained.
