Kapamilya actress and top vlogger Ivana Alawi has opened up about her dating preferences, emphasizing that she prefers non-showbiz partners and is not entertaining advances from politicians.
During a thanksgiving event for the media on March 7, Ivana candidly shared that while she is open to dating, she remains focused on her career, family, and philanthropic work rather than actively seeking a romantic relationship.
Ivana, now 28 years old, admitted that she has dated celebrities in the past, but the experiences have made her cautious about dating within the entertainment industry.
“Hindi talaga ako mahilig sa showbiz. Pag showbiz, hindi talaga kami nagwo-work,” she revealed.
She further explained that some of her previous relationships with actors left her feeling like she was being taken advantage of financially.
“Ano ka ba? Nakailang date na ako ng mga showbiz, ginagawa akong mama, sugar mommy! Ako naman, okay ako, split the bill. Pero huwag naman todo-todo na lahat na lang ako,” she added with a laugh.
Another reason she avoids dating fellow celebrities is the romantic scenes they are required to do on-screen.
“Ayoko yung showbiz na nakikita ko nakikipaglaplapan sa iba, hindi ko kaya. Pero ako puwede, di ba?” she said, jokingly.
She clarified, however, that if she were to date someone from showbiz, he would have to understand and accept the demands of her career.
“Sana maintindihan niya. Kasi ako, may kissing scenes, bed scenes, so dapat ready siya. Ako, hindi ako ready sa kanya,” she quipped.
Ivana also confirmed that she has received romantic advances from politicians, but she has consistently declined them.
“Marami, e. Iba-iba. Dedma, o kaya pagka ano, dedma. Date na non-showbiz,” she said.
When asked what she looks for in a potential partner, Ivana stressed the importance of kindness and generosity.
“Gusto ko simpleng tao lang pero handang tumulong sa nangangailangan. Hindi mayabang, at may puso. Yung same heart, gustong tumulong din,” she explained.
She added that she could never be with someone who lacks compassion for others, stating: “Ang hirap na pareho kami tapos magkaiba yung ugali namin. Yung ayaw niyang tumulong at saka wala siyang puso para sa mga Pinoy at sa mga kababayan natin.”
Despite her fame and success, Ivana prioritizes her family above all else.
“Yung time with the family, kakain kami, nagluluto kami, tapos kakain nang sabay-sabay. Yun yung mga simpleng bagay na hindi ko mabibili. Pero nae-experience ko at masayang-masaya ako doon,” she shared.
While she eventually wants to settle down and have a family, Ivana believes she still has time to focus on her career and humanitarian efforts before considering a serious relationship.
“Ang nasa utak ko, tumulong muna bago ako lumab-life, di ba? Bago ako mag-focus sa pag-ibig,” she said.
She emphasized that she wants to use her influence to help marginalized communities, including farmers, vendors, and fishermen.
“Mga vendors, magsasaka, yung mga taong nangangailangan talaga ng tulong. Yung mga fishermen natin, yan,” she added.
Ivana did mention that she hopes to be married by the age of 30, but for now, she is embracing her independence, career growth, and advocacy work.
