Television icon Kris Aquino once again bared her soul to the public, revealing not just her ongoing battle with multiple autoimmune diseases but also her heartbreak over the end of her relationship with her doctor-boyfriend.
In an emotional Instagram post, the Queen of All Media detailed her physical pain and the emotional toll of being left behind by someone she deeply loved.
Aquino confirmed the breakup with her former partner, Dr. Mike Padlan, explaining that he chose “freedom” over their relationship.
“The doctor I loved left me because he wanted the freedom to travel, to break free from needing to care for & the reality of KRIS AQUINO who had multiplying autoimmune diseases with so few treatment options. Enough time has passed: he did not love me,” she revealed.
The actress further shared the painful words from her ex-partner, stating: “The TRUTH, in his words: ‘INIWAN KITA DAHIL MAHIRAP KANG MAHALIN, sobrang sikip ng paligid.’”
She also expressed frustration over what she claimed was her ex-boyfriend’s alleged attacks against her close friends and doctors, who continue to help her improve her quality of life.
“My prayer is that he will now STOP trash-talking & cursing my best friends and doctors who are still doing all they can to improve my quality of life, proving everyday genuine love, compassion & loyalty.”
Despite the heartbreak, Aquino made it clear that she compensated him professionally, even while they were together.
“In my defense, he did receive the correct professional fees — even when we were a couple. End of that chapter.”
Aside from her emotional pain, Aquino continues to battle serious health conditions. She disclosed that she recently underwent an ultrasound and received steroid injections to alleviate severe pain.
“I cannot walk, each step is agony. The excruciating pain is from my knees all the way to my feet, a combination of deep bone pain (lupus arthritis, Polymyositis, and acute fibromyalgia),” she explained.
Despite her deteriorating health, Aquino remains resilient. She credited her youngest son, Bimby, for giving her the strength to continue fighting.
“When you are unconditionally loved, when like me you are blessed with a son who will do all to lessen his mama’s physical & emotional suffering – HINDI KA SUSUKO. TINITIIS ko yung matinding sakit na parte na ng bawat araw ko dahil ang pagmamahal ng anak ay walang katumbas.”

Since being diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases, Aquino has undergone various treatments, including a series of medical procedures abroad. She returned to the Philippines in September 2024 after spending time in the United States for treatment.
