Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera candidly opened up about her past experiences with jealousy in her relationship with husband Dingdong Dantes during a sit-down interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila for a Women’s Month special on YouTube.
When asked if she’s a naturally jealous type, Marian didn’t hesitate to answer with honesty.
“Selosa ako. Nasa lugar. Very transparent. Sayang nga e, kung puwede ko lang i-rewind, di ba?” she said, admitting that while she used to be more reactive in the past, her jealousy always had basis.
“Ang babae, hindi magseselos kung walang dahilan. Nature ng babae ‘yan,” Marian explained. “Kapag may nakita kang alanganin na ginagawa ng babae sa partner mo, alangan namang sabihin mo, ‘Ang galing, ang sweet nila together. Kinikilig ako.’ My God, napakaipokrita nu’n. No, no, no for me.”
She then admitted that in her earlier years, her immediate reaction would often be directed at the other woman instead of addressing her concerns with Dingdong.
“Ayun lang, nagre-react agad ako doon sa babae. Dapat pala kay Dong ako nagre-react,” she shared, smiling.
Though she did not name names, Marian hinted that she’s since crossed paths with some of the women she once felt insecure about and even took the high road by forgiving them.
“Kapag nakikita ko sila, naiilang sila kasi alam nila ‘yung sitwasyon kung bakit ko ginawa iyon sa kanila,” she said. “Pero ngayon, kapag nakikita ko, I’ll try to be civil. May isa ngang pagkakataon, ako na ‘yung nag-initiate na, ‘Pinapatawad na kita.’ Tapos naloka siya.”
Marian added that at this point in her life, she no longer sees the point in holding on to bitterness.
“Ang punto ko kasi sa buhay, sobrang happy ako sa ibinigay ni Lord sa akin, wala nang dahilan para yung bitterness ko, nandito pa. Ni-let go ko na iyan,” she said. “Sa isip-isip ko na lang, ‘Learn your lesson girl, ha, huwag mo nang gawin iyon sa iba.’ Pero ayun nga, mas masarap pa rin na wala kang kaaway, pinapatawad mo yung mga taong nakagawa sa iyo ng kasalanan.”
While she didn’t confirm anything outright, past reports have linked Marian to rumored rifts with actresses such as Heart Evangelista, Bela Padilla, Rhian Ramos, and Andrea Torres—especially during projects where Dingdong was paired with them.
Most notably, her tension with Heart Evangelista reportedly began during the filming of ‘Temptation Island’ in 2011, with an alleged confrontation involving Heart’s mother at the airport. The two actresses were only rumored to have reconciled in 2023.
Meanwhile, when asked if she’s open to having a third child with Dingdong, Marian laughed and responded, “Fifty-fifty ako. Si Dong gusto talaga niya, ako parang hmmm, ewan ko pa.”
Marian and Dingdong tied the knot in 2014 and have two children, Zia and Sixto.
