The son of Dr. Mike Padlan, Miguel Lorenzo Padlan, has come forward to defend his father following the rumored breakup between the doctor and Kris Aquino.
In a lengthy and emotional Facebook post, Miguel refuted allegations and misinformation about his father, stating that he could no longer stay silent while false narratives continued to circulate.
Miguel confirmed that his father and Kris have indeed parted ways but emphasized that the breakup was not due to a lack of love.
“Yes, my father and Mama Kris separated because the spark between them was gone. However, that does not mean my father never loved her. He truly did,” Miguel wrote.
According to him, their relationship was genuine and filled with care, but love alone was not enough to sustain it. He stressed that sometimes, people are simply not meant to be together long-term, no matter how much love existed initially.
In his post, Miguel revealed the sacrifices that his father made during his relationship with Kris. He shared that Dr. Padlan frequently traveled to the U.S. to be with Kris, sometimes at great personal and financial cost.
“There were times when he had little to no money left and was losing patients at his clinic, yet he still chose to be with her,” Miguel disclosed.
Despite this, Miguel clarified that his father never asked Kris for anything—whether it was financial assistance or gifts.
“Whatever Mama Kris gave—whether financial support or presents—she did so out of her own kindness and generosity,” he explained.
However, his father’s dedication to Kris sometimes came at the expense of his own children. Miguel admitted that he and his siblings often felt neglected as their father prioritized being with Kris.
“It may hurt to admit that my siblings and I sometimes felt neglected by our father, but we understand—Mama Kris needed him, and we respected that.”
Miguel expressed his frustration over the negative portrayal of his father, urging the public to stop spreading unverified stories.
“I cannot stand by and watch his name be dragged through the mud with false accusations and misleading narratives. Good people cannot be brought down.”
He also revealed that Dr. Padlan will soon be leaving the country to care for a relative who recently underwent surgery, demonstrating his commitment to family and selflessness.
Despite the breakup, Miguel maintained his family’s respect for Kris Aquino, stating that they still hold immense appreciation for the former couple’s time together.
“We love you, Mama Kris, and we love our father as well. Family is family. That is why I am here—to support my father and stand by my family.”
The controversy erupted after Kris Aquino confirmed her split from Dr. Mike Padlan in an Instagram post on March 16. In her statement, Kris implied that the doctor had left her due to the difficulties of being in a relationship with someone battling multiple autoimmune diseases.
“The doctor I loved left me because he wanted the freedom to travel, to break free from needing to care for & the reality of KRIS AQUINO who had multiplying autoimmune diseases with so few treatment options.”
She further claimed that Dr. Padlan told her: “INIWAN KITA DAHIL MAHIRAP KANG MAHALIN, sobrang sikip ng paligid.”
Kris also urged her ex-boyfriend to stop speaking negatively about her friends and doctors who continue to support her through her medical journey.
