After nearly five years since revealing her past relationship with Kapuso journalist Arnold Clavio, Sarah Balabagan-Sereno has once again addressed her former boyfriend—this time, in response to Clavio’s criticism of the prayer rallies organized for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a Facebook post, Sarah reminded Clavio about the power of unity prayers, referencing her own past experiences when she was saved from capital punishment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Arnold, huwag mong maliitin ang power ng UNITY PRAYERS! ‘The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective’ (James 5:16). Ako mismo ay bunga ng unity prayers ng mga Filipino. Pero pinagsamantalahan mo lang at inuto!”
Her statement was a direct response to Clavio’s post questioning the legitimacy of prayer gatherings held by Duterte’s supporters. The journalist had earlier expressed skepticism over prayers being offered for a leader who openly admitted to not believing in God.
Sarah also took the opportunity to express her support for Duterte, calling him a great leader and defending his legacy.
“Some people said he is not a good man, which I agree with, because for me, he is a great man and a great leader! I know he is not perfect, he has flaws, he is a sinner, but hey, sino ba ang hindi nagkasala?” she wrote, quoting John 8:7.
She further criticized Duterte’s detractors, saying that their hatred blinds them from seeing his contributions to the country.
“Hindi lang ang pagiging fanatic ang nakakabulag, kundi maging ang pagkagalit mo sa isang tao ay nakakabulag din dahil tanging ang mga mali at masasama lang ang makikita mong ginawa niya.”
Sarah’s stance on Duterte starkly contrasts with Arnold Clavio’s opinion, which has been more critical of the former president.
This is not the first time Sarah has publicly confronted Clavio. In 2020, she revealed that Clavio impregnated her when she was only 17 years old, while he was covering her story as a journalist.
“Ang ama po ng panganay ko ay, yes, si Arnold Clavio po. Siya po ang ama ng panganay ko,” she admitted.
Sarah described how Clavio’s humor and charm played a role in their relationship, adding that she was in a vulnerable state after being released from prison in the UAE when their affair happened.
Despite the controversy, Clavio has remained silent on the issue, refusing to address Sarah’s allegations.
