Fresh from turning heads at the Bench Body of Work fashion show, ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11’ alums JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith are preparing for another major milestone: their first-ever appearance at the prestigious ABS-CBN Ball on April 4.
The rising love team, dubbed “JMFyang” by fans, shared their excitement during a recent Star Magic Spotlight press conference where they were formally introduced as two of the most promising new artists under the network’s wing.
“Sobrang excited,” JM said with a wide smile. “Makikita rin namin ‘yung mga iniidolo namin sa industriya. Excited kami na magkaroon ng interaction between us and them.”
“First namin na Ball ‘yun, na maglalakad kami sabay sa red carpet. Marami rin akong gustong makita du’n,” added Fyang, radiating excitement as she spoke about the event.
Though new to the glitz and glamor of the Ball, the two rising stars are hands-on with their looks. Fyang revealed she requested a “very simple” silhouette for her gown, with just the right touch of drama. “Gusto ko simple lang pero at the same time, siyempre kailangan may ‘wow’ pa rin,” she explained.
JM, on the other hand, gave a shoutout to his styling team, led by Ton Lao and designer Neric Beltran. “Simple lang pero nilagyan nila ng ‘wow’ factor kahit papaano,” he shared, clearly thrilled with his look.
JM and Fyang are committed not just to looking the part, but to growing in their craft. Both are immersed in acting workshops, training under the Meisner technique—a method they say has helped unlock new emotional depth and honesty in their performances.
The two are also enjoying the perks of their newfound stardom—including travel. Recently, they visited Dubai together, marking their first trip as work and travel buddies.
When asked where they’d love to go next, Fyang answered without hesitation: “Japan,” revealing it’s JM’s dream destination. A huge anime fan, JM lit up at the thought of visiting places that inspired the worlds he grew up watching.
Looking at him fondly, Fyang told him, “Hayaan mo, pupuntahan natin!”
From walking their first red carpet to starring in upcoming projects, it’s clear that JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith are embracing every moment of their rise. Their grounded personalities, shared passion for their craft, and natural chemistry continue to win over fans and industry insiders alike.
