Kapuso primetime actor Ruru Madrid is back on the set of ‘Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila’ just days after being hospitalized for a hamstring injury.
The actor has made an unexpectedly fast recovery and is once again filming for the hit action series.

Despite the production’s willingness to adjust the schedule to allow him time to rest, Ruru pushed to return as soon as possible. According to him, he’s now able to walk normally without the help of a wheelchair or crutches.
“Nagulat din po siya, actually, na sobrang bilis po ng healing,” Ruru shared in an interview, referring to his doctor. “But siyempre, sabi niya huwag ka pa rin magsa-stunts na magiging delikado at posibleng bumalik ‘yung injuries. Sabi niya, at least ipahinga mo itong linggo na ‘to tapos, try natin mag-MRI ulit. Kung healed na siya, mabibigyan ako ng clearance.”
While Ruru was recovering, his co-star Rochelle Pangilinan stepped in to handle more of the action scenes. Ruru expressed his gratitude for the production’s care and support.
“Thankful ako na ganoon sila kaalaga sa amin. May medic naman tayo na nag-check kung okay ako bago ko umuwi ng bahay and then kinabukasan, chine-check pa rin nila ko kung kumusta ako,” he said.
Young actor Nathaniel Enaje, who plays the role of Butchoy in the series, also shared his admiration for Ruru. “Kasi po, magaling po siyang umarte. Magaling din po siya mag stunts,” he said.
Viewers can expect exciting developments in the storyline as the mystery surrounding the connection between Ruru and Nathaniel’s characters begins to unfold.
“Malinaw na. Alam na ng mga tao so abangan po natin kung paano ba mari-reveal ang lahat ng mga rebelasyon na ‘yan. Papano ba ‘yan lalabas,” Ruru teased.
‘Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila’ airs weeknights at 8:00 p.m. on GMA Prime, with a delayed telecast on GTV at 9:40 p.m. The show is also available for streaming online via Kapuso Stream.
