Kapuso actress Carla Abellana has fired back at a news article claiming she is on the verge of reconciling with ex-husband Tom Rodriguez, branding the report as false and potentially libelous.
On the evening of May 27, 2025, Carla reposted a screenshot of the online story to her Instagram Stories, alongside a sharp caption directed at the publication: “Eh kung kasuhan ko nalang kayo at yang ‘source’ ninyo ng libel?”
The online article in question suggested that Carla and Tom, who separated in January 2022 just three months after their wedding, were talking again and considering getting back together. Citing unnamed “insiders close to the Abellana family,” the article claimed that Carla’s father, veteran actor Rey “PJ” Abellana, saw “emotional growth” in his daughter and stepped back to allow her to make her own decisions regarding her relationship with Tom.
The piece read in part: “WHAT CHANGED? According to insiders close to the Abellana family, PJ’s heart softened after seeing how much Carla still cared for Tom, even after everything. It is said that despite the pain, she never spoke ill of him and still believed he had a good heart — just lost along the way. Recently, reports surfaced that Tom has returned to the Philippines quietly and has reached out to Carla. ‘They’ve been talking again. Carla’s not rushing, but she’s not closing the door either,’ a source claimed.”
Carla made it clear the article held no truth and that she had no such conversations with her ex-husband. Her blunt online response has since sparked support from fans praising her for calling out misinformation.

In a June 2024 interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Carla revealed that she and Tom were legally divorced based on a foreign decree recognized by a local court in the Philippines.
“We are divorced. Recognized na po yan ng court, local court po natin dito,” she said, adding that she had already forgiven Tom: “Definitely po, yes definitely po.”
Carla and Tom tied the knot on October 23, 2021, after over seven years together. But by January 2022, their separation made headlines. Since then, Carla has remained single, while Tom has confirmed having a son with his current non-showbiz partner.
As of now, no legal action has been filed, but Carla’s warning has made her stance crystal clear.
