Veteran actress, producer, and former ABS-CBN executive Charo Santos-Concio took a sentimental walk down memory lane as she recalled co-hosting GMA Network’s variety show ‘Germspesyal’ with the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, during her recent guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ alongside Dingdong Dantes.

“This was my first show on GMA,” Charo shared, referring to her early years in showbiz. “‘Germspesyal’—I was the first co-host of the late German Moreno before it became ‘GMA Supershow.’ I would come here every Sunday and do the hosting chore with him.”
‘Germspesyal’ aired from 1979 to 1984, later rebranded as the long-running ‘GMA Supershow.’ Charo also revealed that during her time on the show, she received no talent fee and worked without the usual support system.
“You have to do everything on your own, that’s why it also trained me to be self-reliant and independent,” she said, noting how those experiences shaped her work ethic and resilience in the industry.
Now decades into her illustrious career, Charo is returning to the big screen in a new romantic film ‘Only We Know,’ which premieres June 11. She stars as Betty opposite Dingdong Dantes, who plays Ryan. In the same Fast Talk interview, she described the film as a refreshing return to her youthful spirit.
“It brings you back to your high school years… you meet this dashing young man and it brings you back to your youth,” she said.
She also praised her co-star, saying, “Natural siya, totoo siya, walang persona, walang pagpapanggap.” Their effortless chemistry, according to Charo, was built on seven years of collaboration and conversations leading up to the film’s completion in 2024.
Directed by Irene Villamor, ‘Only We Know’ explores themes of timeless, boundary-breaking love. Charo summed it up: “Love transcends everything. There are no labels, no boundaries. Age is just a number. When it comes to feelings, you just go with the flow.”
Charo and Dingdong also recently entered ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ as house guests, where they mentored the housemates and hosted games inside Bahay ni Kuya.
