Dalaga na Si Maxie Oliveros: A Drag Musical Extravaganza is coming in June

Maxie is back—and this time, she’s all grown up. Dalaga na si Maxie Oliveros: A Drag Musical Extravaganza marks the dazzling return of one of Filipino pop culture’s most beloved queer icons in a spectacular new immersive production running from June 13 to 22, 2025 at Illumination Studio, Makati City.

Staged just in time for Pride Month, this bold reimagining of Maxie’s story invites audiences to step directly into her glitter-filled, heartbreak-prone, and fabulously complicated world. Set five years after Maxie the Musical, the sequel follows Maxie Oliveros as she navigates love, identity, and resilience in a world that’s still catching up to her radiance. More than just a sequel, Dalaga na si Maxie Oliveros is a theatrical experience unlike anything audiences have seen before. Performances unfold in and around the audience, blurring the lines between stage and seat in an intimate, interactive celebration of queer joy, survival, and transformation. Part drag show, part musical, part rallying cry—this immersive production promises to spark dialogue, emotion, and glitter in equal measure.

The new musical builds on the legacy of Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, the 2005 award-winning film that first introduced Maxie to the world. The 2013 hit Maxie the Musical followed, earning acclaim for its exuberant yet tender take on the queer coming-of-age experience. Presented by J+Productions under special arrangements with the original film makers and Ticket2Me, and line produced by PETA Plus, Maxie returns to reclaim her story—older, fiercer, and more unapologetically herself than ever before.

Playdates:

Who is the next Maxie Oliveros?

Breathing new life into the iconic character of Maxie Oh is rising star Jamila Rivera, a fresh talent hailing from Naga City, Camarines Sur. Jamila made the journey to audition for the role, eager to showcase not only his dynamic drag artistry but also his exceptional singing voice.

Joining Jamila in the main cast are some of the country’s top drag performers: Zymba Ding, Corazon, MRS TAN, and Winter Sheason Nicole—alongside equally-talented actors Jem Manicad, Gerhard Krystoppher, and Gabriel Villaruel. Rounding out the powerhouse ensemble are Ado Villanueva, Air Paz, Gerald Magallanes, Honey Bravo, Jay Cortez, Marit Samson, Misha Fabian, and Robert Macaraeg.

This highly anticipated production is directed by Melvin Lee, written by Julia Icawat Enriquez and Mikaundre Gozum Santos, with musical direction, arrangement, and additional original songs by JJ Pimpinio. At its core, Dalaga na si Maxie Oliveros is more than just a Pride celebration—it’s a powerful, joy-filled platform that amplifies LGBTQIA+ voices, interrogates societal norms, and creates a safe space for reflection, resistance, and radical love. Whether you’re a longtime Maxie fan or meeting her for the first time, this is one show you won’t want to miss.

Tickets are now available for purchase through https://ticket2me.net/dalaga-na-si-Maxie at ₱2,500.00 each.
