After more than a week of public concern and unanswered questions, Vivamax actress Karen Lopez finally surfaced on social media, apologizing for her sudden disappearance.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 14, Lopez addressed the speculations surrounding her whereabouts since May 5, when she was last seen leaving her condominium unit in Quezon City with her boyfriend.
“Dumaan ako sa mga bagay na medyo mabigat mentally and emotionally, at napagtanto kong kailangan kong unahin ang well-being ko—even if that meant stepping back for a while.”
Her statement came just hours after the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) issued a public advisory saying they had not received any formal report from Lopez’s relatives, but had already initiated an investigation following social media alerts.
Despite the absence of a formal complaint, the QCPD Station 10 had reportedly started gathering CCTV footage and coordinating with Lopez’s assistant to trace her movements.
In her post, Karen acknowledged the distress her silence may have caused.
“Slowly, I’m getting better and trying to comeback stronger, one step at a time.”
She concluded her post with gratitude to those who reached out and understood her situation.
Slowly but surely, I’m getting back on track. Appreciate you all so much!”
Lopez had briefly gone live on Facebook earlier that day, but the video was later deleted.
As of writing, no further statements have been issued by her camp or her talent manager Lito de Guzman, who earlier raised concern when the actress failed to show up for a scheduled movie shoot on May 7, prompting fears about her safety.
