It was a collective gasp from both press and mallgoers at the World Trade Center when the trailer for Puregold’s newest digital series ‘Si Sol at Si Luna’ lit up the big screen during the 2025 Aling Puring Convention.
And why? Because former child star Zaijian Jaranilla—forever etched in many viewers’ minds as Santino from ‘May Bukas Pa’—is now making waves for an entirely different reason: his first-ever onscreen intimate scene.
Yes, you read that right. The once-saintly Santino is now all grown up, taking on bold and emotionally layered roles. And in Si Sol at Si Luna, he shares passionate kissing and bed scenes with his co-star Jane Oineza that had the internet buzzing and fans wide-eyed with shock and curiosity.
During the media conference for the series, Zaijian opened up about taking on this mature character. He admitted that he was incredibly nervous leading up to the steamy scenes, but credited the support of director Dolly Dulu, producer Chris Cahilig, and the unwavering trust of his home network Star Magic for allowing him the space to evolve.
“I really wanted to explore different roles as an actor,” Zaijian shared. “I’m thankful to Star Magic, Direk Dolly, Sir Chris, and Puregold for trusting me with this project. It’s a big step.”
Asked how he managed to get through the nerve-wracking kissing and bed scenes, he said with a smile, “Siyempre kabado, pero dahil sa guidance ni Direk at ni Jane, naitawid naman.” The room burst into laughter and applause when he cheekily added, “Siguro po ang masasabi ko lang, marunong akong humalik.”
Jane, for her part, was just as supportive. Laughing when teased for being the one who “initiated” Zaijian’s first onscreen kiss, she emphasized their professional approach. “I just did for him what my past co-stars did for me when I was in his position. We helped each other through the scene,” she said.
‘Si Sol at Si Luna’ tells the story of Sol (Zaijian), a 21-year-old film student, and Luna (Jane), a 31-year-old woman grieving the loss of her fiancé. The series doesn’t just touch on romance—it dives deep into grief, healing, and unexpected connections that blossom across age gaps and emotional divides.
