Good news for Kapuso viewers—’Mommy Dearest’, GMA Afternoon Prime’s emotional family drama headlined by Camille Prats, Katrina Halili, and Shayne Sava, has been officially extended!
The exciting announcement was made during Camille and Katrina’s guesting on ‘Fast Talk With Boy Abunda’ on Tuesday, June 3, where they shared their happiness and reflections on the show’s growing success.
“Masaya po kami na ‘yung pinaghirapan namin, tinatangkilik ng mga tao,” Katrina shared.
Camille echoed the sentiment, admitting they had a strong feeling an extension was coming: “Parang medyo nagkaroon na kami ng kutob na it might be [extended].”
The actresses also expressed deep gratitude to their loyal viewers, with Camille sharing a heartfelt message to fans: “Sa lahat po ng sumuporta at tumutok sa Mommy Dearest mula umpisa, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong pagmamahal at sa inyong walang sawang suporta. At sana po hanggang sa huli kung kailan man darating ang huling iyon ay samahan niyo po kami at talaga namang sabay-sabay nating i-witness ang kwento nila Emma, Olive, Jade at bawat cast ng kwento.”
However, Camille revealed that there was lighthearted pressure behind the scenes as well—thanks to her co-star Katrina.
“Kami kasi ni Mars Kat, magkakuwarto kasi kami nito, so we’re always together,” she recounted. “May time din, Tito Boy, na pinressure niya ako. Nagme-make up ako, dumadaan-daan siya sa likod ko, sabi niya, ‘Camille, lahat ng show ko, Camille, na-e-extend.’”
Camille continued, laughing, “‘Mars, parang pine-pressure mo ‘ko, a?’ Sabi ko, ‘Kapag hindi na-extend itong show mo na ‘to, parang kasalanan ko, a?’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘Basta Mars, a? Sinabi ko na sa’yo ‘yan. Lahat ng show ko, na-e-extend, bahala ka na diyan.’”
Katrina, dubbed by some fans as a “lucky charm” due to her track record of extended shows, admitted feeling pressure too—especially when the extension hadn’t been confirmed yet.
“Medyo nakaka-pressure, promise. Nu’ng hindi pa kami nag-e-extend, sabi ko, ‘Hindi pa kami nag-e-extend.’ Sabi ko, ‘At least, number one naman. Sige, okay lang,’” she said. “Nu’ng hindi pa kami na-e-extend, tanggap ko na.”
Camille quipped in response, “Oo, bago mo ako i-pressure.”
‘Mommy Dearest’ tells the poignant story of Mookie (Shayne Sava), a girl who has lived with serious illnesses since childhood. Her fiercely protective mother Olive (Camille Prats) keeps her sheltered, leading to a dynamic that feels more like a prison than a home. The series also features Katrina as the complex character Emma, along with Winwyn Marquez, Dion Ignacio, and Amy Austria.
The series airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime.
