GMA Network’s latest entry in the Encantadia universe, “Sang’gre,” made a powerful debut in the ratings race, dethroning the long-time leader “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo (FPJBQ)” on its premiere night.
According to the latest rating reports from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey, “Sang’gre” kicks-off strong on its first day of airing, zooming to the number one position on the ratings chart, dislodging consistent number one, FPJBQ.
On Monday, June 16, GMA Network premiered the latest installment on its Encantadia saga, “Sang’gre” with a rating of 13.7 percent, overtaking FPJBQ by a 0.8 ratings margin at 12.9 percent.
This marked the first time since July 26, 2024, that a Kapuso primetime series surpassed the ratings of FPJBQ, when Black Rider briefly overtook the Kapamilya hit during its finale, 15.6 vs 14.7 percent.
Meanwhile, beyond television, “Sang’gre” also saw strong digital engagement. While FPJBQ continued to lead in concurrent online viewership, “Sang’gre’s” pilot episode demonstrated a major improvement over its predecessor, Lolong.
Based on LionhearTV’s monitoring, it showed that “Sang’gre” achieved over 330,000 peak concurrent viewers across digital platforms, far surpassing Lolong’s usual peak of around 50,000. The premiere also dominated social media trends, with the hashtag #SanggreWorldPremiere topping Twitter (now X) trends in the Philippines.
However, “Sang’gre’s” early triumph proved short-lived. On the very next day, Tuesday, June 17, FPJBQ reclaimed its lead with a 13.3 percent rating, beating “Sang’gre” by 1.1 percent at 12.1 percent.
The trend continued on Wednesday, June 18, with FPJBQ maintaining 13.3 percent, while “Sang’gre” dropped to 11.4 percent, marking 1.9 percent ratings margin. And on Thursday, June 19, FPJBQ further widened the gap, climbing to 14.0 percent, 1.3 percent higher against “Sang’gre’s” 11.7 percent.
With its solid pilot showing, the question now is, can “Sang’gre” reverse the tide again on its favor? Or will FPJBQ continued to lord the ratings board as it used to?
