How did ‘Akusada’ perform in TV ratings during its pilot week?

GMA Network’s latest afternoon prime drama, ‘Akusada,’ headlined by Andrea Torres, had a modest debut in the ratings game.

According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, ‘Akusada’ premiered on Monday, June 30, with a 5.3% rating.

This figure falls short compared to its predecessor ‘Binibining Marikit,’ which opened with 6.2% on February 10, 0.9 percentage points higher.

It wasn’t just ‘Akusada’ that struggled that day. Fellow Kapuso afternoon drama ‘My Mommy Dearest’ also posted a relatively low rating of 5.8%, suggesting a generally quiet day for afternoon viewership.

On its second day, Tuesday, July 1, ‘Akusada’ dipped slightly to 5.2%, making it the lowest-rated Kapuso afternoon drama that day, trailing behind ‘My Mommy Dearest’ and ‘My Father’s Wife.’ However, the series showed signs of recovery midweek, climbing back to 5.3% on Wednesday, July 2, and further improving to 5.6% on Thursday, July 3.

Despite the slight upward trend, ‘Akusada’ has yet to make a significant impact online.

Its pilot week generated minimal buzz on social media, with few mentions or reviews on Twitter (now X). The show’s digital performance also reflected this lukewarm reception, its pilot episode on GMA Network’s official YouTube channel garnered only 30,000 views within five days of release.

As the series continues, the question is: Can Akusada turn things around and capture the attention of viewers? Or is this a sign of waning interest in traditional afternoon dramas?
