Kyline Alcantara turned emotional as she shared how her close friend and co-star Barbie Forteza helped her get through one of the most difficult periods in her personal life.
In an interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, the Sparkle actress revealed that Barbie played a key role in helping her regain her confidence following her breakup with basketball player Kobe Paras.
“Si Barbie talaga, iba po talaga siya. Naiiyak ako,” Kyline said, holding back tears. “She just gave me my confidence back. She made me realize na ‘ikaw muna, mare.’”
Kyline emphasized that her bond with Barbie has grown beyond friendship and work. “Whenever I say ‘I love you, Barbie’ or ‘I love you, mare,’ galing po talaga sa puso ’yun. ’Yung relationship namin ngayon ni Barbie, it’s more than co-workers. It’s really beyond that,” she said.
Recalling a touching moment, Kyline shared how Barbie checked in on her without being asked. “May one time po, tawag siya sa ’kin, ‘O mare, papunta na ako ha, kakain tayo. Hindi ka kasi kumakain, kain tayo.’ Sabi ko, ‘Ha? Hindi pa nakaayos ’yung bahay namin, madumi pa.’ Sabi niya, ‘Wala akong pakialam. Gusto lang kitang makita kumain. Pupunta ako diyan, usap tayo.’”
“Doon ko na-prove na iba talaga si Madam Barbie,” Kyline said. “That’s why I love her. ’Yan ang kaibigan talaga. She has a special place in my heart.”
The two actresses currently star in the GMA Network primetime drama ‘Beauty Empire’ alongside Ruffa Gutierrez. The series airs Mondays to Thursdays at 9:35 p.m. on GMA Network and is also available for streaming on Viu.
In a separate interview with ’24 Oras’, Kyline said her heart is in a much better place now. “It’s better now with the help of everyone around me,” she shared, reassuring fans that she’s okay and moving forward with gratitude.
