As ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ (PBB) celebrates its 20th anniversary, fans are buzzing with speculation about a potential All-Star edition—and it turns out, the idea isn’t just wishful thinking.

‘PBB’ Business Unit Head Marcus Vinuya confirmed in an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for Paano Ba ‘To that the team has been seriously considering the return of former housemates for a special season.
“Sobra kong dream ‘yan, sa totoo lang,” Vinuya admitted. “We have 20 years, we have almost 500 housemates, so parang ang weird nun if we don’t do it.”
He added that internal discussions are already underway, although the creative team is taking its time to ensure the concept feels fresh for both viewers and returning housemates.
“Definitely, we have talked about it… if we will do it, it has to be really different from what the housemates experienced before.”
While no formal announcement has been made, Vinuya was enthusiastic about the idea, saying plainly: “I’m all for it.”
Reflecting on ‘PBB’s’ two-decade run, Vinuya also highlighted a key ingredient to the show’s longevity: casting.
“If you have a good cast, then everything will flow,” he said. “Casting is very crucial… because your cast will be the one that people will relate to.”
He also shared how ABS-CBN COO Cory Vidanes continuously challenges the team to elevate their casting choices.
“Si Tita Cory laging may ganyan sa akin. Magpre-present kami ng cast sa kanya, ‘Yan na ‘yun Marcus?’… Sa kanya, lagi niya kaming pinu-push, ‘Is that your best?’”
From Big Winners to breakout personalities, ‘PBB’ has introduced nearly 500 housemates since its launch in 2005. If the All-Star edition does push through, it promises to be a nostalgic yet evolved take on the beloved reality series.
For now, fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for that “tamang panahon.”
