Despite now being a Kapuso, comedienne Pokwang recently returned to the ABS-CBN compound to bid farewell to a place that played a major role in her rise to fame.

Standing just outside the gates of her former home network, Pokwang took a photo with the ABS-CBN Millennium Transmitter Tower in the background—one of the remaining structures set for demolition following the network’s loss of franchise and the sale of its property.
In an emotional Instagram post, Pokwang paid tribute to the network that gave her a break. “July 2004, dito nagsimula ang lahat. Lahat ng napakalaking pagbabago sa buhay ko at ng pamilya ko. Salamat. Maraming salamat po,” she wrote.
More than expressing gratitude, Pokwang also offered an apology for her departure from the network during a challenging time.
“Patawad sa aking paglisan. Pero di ka naman nawala sa puso ko kahit may mga pinagdaanan tayo. Basta labis ang pasasalamat ko at ng mga anak ko sa iyo. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” she added.
Pokwang began her showbiz journey after being named the grand champion of ‘Clown in a Million’ in 2004, a comedy competition segment aired on ABS-CBN. She became a staple Kapamilya comedian and host before leaving the network in 2020 during its shutdown. She briefly joined TV5 before moving to GMA Network in 2021.
Her return to the ABS-CBN compound—though from the outside—struck a chord with fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom also took to social media to express their nostalgia and sadness over the tower’s upcoming demolition. Among them were Jessy Mendiola and Ogie Alcasid, who likewise shared throwback photos and heartfelt messages.
“Patawad at salamat” may be simple words, but for Pokwang and many Kapamilyas, they capture the sentiment of bidding goodbye to a structure that stood as a symbol of dreams, breakthroughs, and decades of Filipino entertainment history.
