After rising to fame with lead roles in steamy films like ‘Boy Bastos’ and ‘Pagpag 24/7’, Wilbert Ross is ready to leave the sexy image behind—and embrace a more refined path as a singer and actor.
“Yes, po!” he declared when asked if he was officially done with sexy roles. “It was another phase in my life. Yung path na tinatahak ko malayo na sa dati.”
Now signed anew with Viva Artist Agency, Wilbert is set to take on bigger acting and music projects. He’ll reprise his role as Arkin Sanchez in ‘Golden Scenery of Tomorrow’, the fifth installment of the University Series, alongside Bea Binene. The love team has built a solid fan base from their previous series, including ‘Safe Skies’, ‘Archer’ and ‘Avenues of the Diamond’.
Wilbert is also focusing more on music, releasing a new collection of romantic songs under Viva Records, following the success of his earlier singles like ‘Di Ko Alam’, ‘Langga’, and ‘Makaluma’.
He shared that the decision to move away from sexy roles also came from management’s advice. “May nakikita silang ibang path for me. Para na rin makapag-focus ako sa music kasi minsan nakakalimutan ng mga tao na singer talaga ako.”
Still, Wilbert looks back at his past roles with pride and gratitude.
“Kung hindi ko ginawa yun, hindi ko maabot yung level na ito. Naging confident po ako dahil sa mga projects na yun. Newcomer pa lang ako noon pero ginawa na akong lead. So kailangan kong magsipag.”
From sexy star to singer-actor-novelist, Wilbert Ross is proving that true growth lies in knowing when to evolve.
