TV host-actress Anne Curtis has joined the growing chorus of voices expressing frustration over alleged ghost flood control projects in the country, taking to social media to share her sentiments.

On August 28, Curtis posted on X (formerly Twitter) and quoted veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho’s powerful line from the August 24 episode of ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’ (KMJS), which tackled anomalies in Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects.
“When Mam @KM_JessicaSoho said ‘Hindi na pala baha ang magpapalubog sa ating bayan kungdi kasakiman’ Sakit [emojis],” Curtis tweeted.
The “kasakiman” Curtis referred to was Soho’s parting remark on the KMJS feature that exposed how billions of pesos intended for flood control projects were allegedly lost to corruption, as revealed by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Magalong detailed irregularities involving politicians, DPWH officials, and contractors, saying a huge portion of public funds were diverted as “kickbacks” instead of being used to address flooding problems.
Curtis’ post immediately sparked discussions online. One netizen commented, “this country is so broken that i can’t watch the news anymore.. i don’t even know what there for us in the future nakakatakot na.” Another echoed, “Tama si Anne. Hindi talaga tayo sa utang lulubog kundi sa baha dahil sa mga walang pusong korap.”
Others urged more celebrities to speak out, with one saying, “Pinoy celebs with real integrity should start speaking out publicly VS these corrupt politicians, gov’t officials and their families… Those who don’t speak up must also be in ‘the take.’”
Although Curtis initially misspelled the word as “kasikiman” in her first tweet, fans and followers largely admired her courage in speaking up on a sensitive national issue. Many noted that the actress, recognized as one of the country’s top taxpayers, was using her platform to highlight corruption and its devastating impact.
Curtis is not the only celebrity who reacted to the controversy—fellow artists Nadine Lustre and Bianca Gonzalez have also voiced their concern.
