Kapuso actor Dustin Yu has opened up about his decision to undergo nose enhancement surgery, revealing that the procedure was primarily done for health reasons—not cosmetic.
In a candid interview with Ogie Diaz, Dustin explained that he used to suffer from sleep apnea, a condition that disrupted his breathing during sleep and led to frequent nightmares and poor rest.
“May sleep apnea kasi ako before. Bad sleep talaga every day,” Dustin shared. So, naging happy ako na bumagay lalo.”
Dustin, a former celebrity housemate in ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’, said he struggled during the first few days of the reality show due to public criticism of his looks.
“First 2–3 days, parang hindi ako makatulog.
He added that he even considered apologizing to his management: “Nagso-sorry na ako sa mga management.
Dustin also addressed comparisons to fellow Kapuso actor and entrepreneur David Licauco, with some accusing him of copying David’s business style.
“Siya ‘yung mentor ko sa negosyo. Sunud-sunuran ako sa kanya dati. Aminado naman talaga ako… Talagang kinukopya ko lang. Inaaral ko talaga,” he admitted.
Since the interview aired, Dustin has received a wave of positive comments from netizens who praised his honesty and vulnerability.
According to the Mayo Clinic, nasal surgery like rhinoplasty can improve airflow in patients with nasal obstructions, potentially alleviating symptoms of sleep apnea. While not a primary treatment, such procedures can offer significant relief for those with structural issues like a deviated septum.
