Gary Valenciano once again proved why he remains the undisputed “Mr. Pure Energy” of Philippine entertainment, delivering a powerhouse performance at the Alagang Suki Fest 2025 held last July 31 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 80th anniversary celebration of Unilab and Mercury Drug brought together generations of Filipino music fans, with Gary V leading the musical lineup. From opening with his timeless hit ‘Shout for Joy’ to dancing across the stage with ‘Hataw Na’ and ‘Di Bale Na Lang,’ Gary had the entire Big Dome singing, clapping, and dancing along.
“I’ve been doing this for 42 years,” the OPM icon said during a brief speech. “And I’m so happy to be able to see all of you in something like this, in somewhere like this. Hanggang ngayon, bakit?!” he said, reflecting on his enduring career ahead of his 61st birthday on August 6. “Siguro ako ‘yung pinakamalapit sa edad sa 80 dito!” he joked, referencing the dual 80th anniversaries being celebrated that night.
In one segment, Gary stepped down from the stage to interact with the crowd, and later performed ‘Sana Maulit Muli’ with his musical director Mon Faustino and backup vocalists. He also sang the Christian song ‘Blessings’ in a touching duet with RJ dela Fuente.
The evening was a mix of heartfelt tributes, glam performances, and nostalgic moments. Pop-rock band Mayonnaise set the tone with crowd favorites like ‘Jopay,’ while Darren Espanto impressed with songs like ‘Dying Inside’ and ‘Paalam Muna Sandali.’ Fresh from his North American tour, Maki delivered a hugot-packed set that included ‘Bughaw,’ ‘Dilaw,’ and ‘Kahel na Langit.’
Belle Mariano brought sparkle and sass during the Biogesic segment, performing a show-stopping medley of ‘Single Ladies,’ ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody,’ ‘Dancing Queen,’ and ‘Buttercup.’ Fans were wowed by Belle’s all-out sing-and-dance showcase—so much so that many described the segment as “Belle’s concert” within the concert.
The night concluded with a high-energy finale from BINI, who performed hits like ‘Pantropiko,’ ‘Karera,’ ‘Shagidi Shapopo,’ and ‘Salamin, Salamin.’ Although their initial set left fans wanting more, the girl group returned for an encore, inviting all performers back onstage for a grand closing number.
The event was hosted by Comedy Manila’s GB Labrador and James Caraan, with brand ambassadors Jolina Magdangal and Robi Domingo also making special appearances.
Alagang Suki Fest 2025 was more than just a concert—it was a heartfelt thank-you to generations of loyal Mercury Drug and Unilab customers.
