After enduring yet another flood that submerged his home and kitchen studio, culinary content creator Ninong Ry (Ryan Morales Reyes) is ready to move on — this time, by looking for a new space to continue his work.
In a heartfelt update posted on August 5, the popular Malabon-based vlogger shared that while they’ve finished deep cleaning and have recovered from the flooding, the emotional and financial toll of recurring disasters is becoming too much to bear.
“Nakaraos na kami sa baha at ngayon, pagkatapos ng deep cleaning, malinis na ulit,” he wrote. “Nakakalungkot isipin na mauulit pa rin ‘to. Sobrang daming oras, energy, at pera ang nasasayang tuwing mangyayari ‘to.”
Ninong Ry said he once believed that their current studio location brought good fortune. But after experiencing repeated flooding, he’s starting to question that belief.
“Naniniwala kasi ako na swerte tong lugar na ‘to,” he shared. “Pero hindi ba kung naniniwala ka sa konsepto ng swerte, dapat naniniwala ka din sa konsepto ng malas? Eto na nga siguro yun.”
Now, he’s calling on his followers for help in finding a new studio space—preferably a house or a location that can be renovated, located near Malabon, with available parking and less prone to flooding.
“Pwedeng bahay, or kung ano man na pwede naming i-fit out na maging studio. Yung medyo malapit lang po sa Malabon para hindi mahirapang bumyahe ang team. Yung may parking po sana and hindi gaanong binabaha,” he said.
He acknowledged that leaving their current setup isn’t easy, but the move feels necessary to protect their work and continue creating content.
“Hindi madali itong desisyon na ‘to, pero tingin namin kailangan naming gawin ‘to para magpatuloy pa ‘tong ginagawa natin.”
Photos shared by the content creator showed his flooded kitchen and studio following heavy rainfall last July 22, brought on by the southwest monsoon and recent tropical cyclones. The damage wasn’t new to him — in 2024, Ninong Ry also posted about floods hitting their home due to the enhanced monsoon rains from Super Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi).
Despite it all, Ninong Ry remains hopeful.
“Makakaahon din tayo. Laban lang.”
Fans and fellow creators have since rallied behind him, offering support and suggesting potential studio spaces.
