Fans of Richard Gutierrez and Barbie Imperial were quick to notice some unusual activity on the couple’s Instagram accounts after the two unfollowed each other, sparking speculation of a possible lovers’ quarrel.
Screenshots shared online showed Barbie’s following count dropping to 636, with Richard’s account missing from her list, while Richard’s 2,740 following also no longer included Barbie.
However, not long after, fans pointed out that both had followed each other again, quelling rumors of a sudden breakup.
Some netizens speculated that it was simply a minor misunderstanding. “Like was there really an expectation that they will last?” one commented, while another noted, “Sa IG talaga ang tagaconfirm eh.” Others brushed it off as a typical lovers’ quarrel that was quickly patched up.
The pair first made headlines in 2024 after being spotted together several times in public. In January 2025, Richard acknowledged their closeness, saying: “Do’n namin nakilala ang isa’t isa. Masaya siyang kasama. Enjoy kaming dalawa. Doon na nagsimula.” He also clarified at the time that Barbie was not the third party in his separation from ex-wife Sarah Lahbati, adding: “Hindi siya third party, hindi nag-overlap… Wala siyang kinalaman.”
Even Richard’s sister, Ruffa Gutierrez, previously admitted she was confused about the status of the relationship. In an appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Ruffa laughed and said, “I don’t know! Isa pa ‘yun… minsan bumpy, minsan okay. Naguguluhan na ako sa kanila! But that’s life.”
