Amid the grief of losing her husband, actress and comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto has made an emotional appeal to the public—especially vloggers and social media content creators—not to exploit the passing of Trevor Magallanes for views and clout.
In a heartfelt statement posted on Facebook, Rufa Mae thanked those who have expressed condolences following Trevor’s sudden passing on July 31 in the U.S., while asking for privacy and respect during this painful time.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nagpadala ng mensahe ng pakikiramay. As we cautiously navigate through this emotionally difficult period in our lives, we would appreciate discretion from everyone,” she wrote.
Without naming names, Rufa Mae specifically called out individuals who have been spreading unverified information online about the cause of Trevor’s death.
“Nakikiusap ako na huwag naman po ninyong gamitin ang pangyayaring ito para magkaroon lamang kayo ng content.”
She emphasized that as Trevor’s legal wife, only she has the right to share details surrounding his death—when the time is right.
“As the wife of Trev, all information surrounding his passing will come from me. Ang lahat ng detalye ay maaari ko lang maibigay sa tamang oras.”
Rufa Mae also reminded the public to be mindful of their daughter Athena, who may see false or insensitive content online.
“For the sake of our daughter, Athena, please refrain from spreading unverified information that she can access through social media. Let us just remember the good times that we had with my husband, Trev.”
The couple, who separated in late 2024, remained legally married. Their split was first confirmed by Trevor in a social media post, with Rufa Mae later acknowledging the separation in an interview with Boy Abunda.
Despite their parting, Rufa Mae maintained respect for her former partner and now grieves not just as a public figure, but as a wife and mother navigating an unexpected loss.
