Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda couldn’t help but mix humor with frustration while sharing his thriftiness abroad, taking a swipe at corrupt officials in the process.

Currently in London for ‘ASAP in England’ happening on August 30 at the BP Pulse Arena, Vice posted on Instagram Stories about how he and his companions were cutting costs by cooking meals at their Airbnb.
“Super tipid ako dito sa London kasi ang mahal. Kaya namalengke na lang kami nung first day at nagluto dito sa Airbnb,” he wrote, showing a simple spread of rice, eggs, hotdogs, ham, and adobo.
By the third day of reheating leftovers, however, the comic’s tone turned sharper: “Pangatlong araw na naming iniinit ’tong natirang adobo. Tapos bigla kong naalala ’yung milyon-milyon kong tax na pinaghahati-hatian ng mga garapal na magnanakaw. Aray koooo!!!!”
Though he did not drop names, Vice’s remarks come as public outrage mounts over the alleged anomalous flood control projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Several contractors with political ties are now under investigation, while the lavish lifestyles of their children and relatives—often flaunted on social media—have drawn even more scrutiny.
This is not the first time Vice has raised the issue of taxpayers’ rights. Earlier this year, he was honored as one of Quezon City’s top taxpayers, reminding the public that while paying taxes is a duty, Filipinos also have the right to demand accountability.
“Pagkatapos nating magbayad ng buwis, karapatan din nating obligahin ang mga tatanggap at gagamit ng perang ibinabayad natin,” he said at the time.
Vice’s humorous yet biting post struck a chord with fans, many of whom echoed his frustration that while ordinary citizens scrimp and save, millions in public funds are allegedly pocketed by “shameless thieves.”
