Filipinos got a vibrant push toward healthier, more sustainable living as Taiwan Excellence officially launched its Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) movement on September 12 at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig City.

The three-day event, which runs until September 14, spotlights how innovative products and simple lifestyle choices can help people live well while living green.
The celebration opened with an energetic cheer dance performance set to Taiwan’s professional baseball anthem, symbolizing Taiwan’s dynamic entrance into the Philippine wellness scene.
Delivering the opening remarks, Josephine Shun, director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, underscored Taiwan’s long-standing dedication to wellness.
“Taiwan is serious about health. Our government is promoting a big vision called Healthy Taiwan. Taiwan is known as the Bicycle Kingdom and one of the top three fitness equipment exporters in the world. I invite you to enjoy everything around you and have fun with your family and friends,” she said.

Alex Lai, director of Taiwan Trade Center Manila, emphasized how innovation drives the LOHAS movement.
“Seventeen Taiwanese companies have brought more than 30 innovative products. The Taiwan Excellence Awards have celebrated innovation as Taiwan’s core value. Behind every award is a simple belief: innovation brings a better life,” Lai noted.
The highlight of the launch was the introduction of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as Taiwan Excellence’s LOHAS advocate.
“I’ve always admired Taiwan for being a leader in championing better health and wellness. Seeing this movement being shared here in the Philippines is an empowering reminder that living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle is something we can all embrace,” Catriona said.
The event treated visitors to a wide range of free fitness sessions, including yoga, spin classes, and body combat, drawing families, fitness enthusiasts, and mallgoers alike.
Award-winning Taiwanese products merging innovation and sustainability were also showcased, including:
- GIANT XTC SLR 29 – a lightweight, durable mountain bike.
- Makalot Motion Tracking Suit – an AI-powered suit for AR/VR precision movement.
