Even while on tour abroad, Daniel Padilla made sure his voice was heard in the ongoing fight against corruption in the Philippines.

During his ‘Detour’ concert with Ian Veneracion at the Grand Theater in Anaheim, California on September 20 (September 21 in Manila), the Kapamilya star shouted from the stage: “Tandaan n’yo, huwag kayong papayag na gaguhin ng gobyerno! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”
The clip quickly went viral after fans shared it on social media, coinciding with the massive anti-corruption rallies at Luneta Park and the EDSA Shrine.
Padilla and Veneracion also spoke briefly onstage about the protests back home.
“Parami nang parami ang tao sa Luneta ngayon,” Daniel noted.
“Oy, grabe ngayon sa ‘tin. Medyo masakit sa loob ang pinagdadaanan ng bansa natin ngayon,” replied Ian.
Daniel agreed: “Masakit sa loob pero maganda naman ‘yung nangyayari… It’s not fair. Mali. Mali. It’s about time.”
Ian responded with, “It’s about time,” which Daniel echoed.
Before ending one of his performances, Daniel once again addressed the crowd: “God bless the Philippines! Let’s go!”
The Anaheim stop marked the second leg of Padilla and Veneracion’s U.S. tour, which kicked off in Honolulu, Hawaii. The two actors, who first worked together in ‘Got To Believe’ and ‘Pangako Sa ’Yo’ before starring in the action series ‘Incognito’, bonded over their shared love for music and have since brought that chemistry to the concert stage.
