Kapamilya actress Janella Salvador has expressed her dismay over receiving what she described as “homophobic” and “lesbophobic” remarks from some members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
On Wednesday, September 17, Janella took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her thoughts.

“It’s bothersome how sometimes those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community are the ones who come up with the most homophobic (lesbophobic, even) comments,” she wrote.
The actress stressed that criticism is fair, but it should not cross into personal attacks. “Criticism and opinions can be thrown without making unnecessary remarks about personal preference, appearance and how people choose to comfortably present themselves,” she added.
Janella also criticized those who make light of discriminatory remarks: “Not to mention those of you who laugh along with the colorist and misogynistic comments. Backwards much?”
Her post came amid rumors linking her to Kapuso actress Klea Pineda, who came out as a lesbian in 2023. The speculation began after the two starred together in the film ‘Open Endings’ and were later spotted spending time together off-camera, including during the GMA Gala 2025.
In a September 3 interview with TV5’s MJ Marfori, Janella denied being the cause of Klea’s breakup with longtime girlfriend Katrice Kierulf.
“Para lang maging klaro, sabi ko po magsasalita ako at the right time. Ito na ’yun. Hindi po ako part ng breakup. Hindi po ako third party. I’d like to exclude myself from that,” she said.
As for her closeness with Klea, Janella kept her answer simple: “Kung ano nakikita niyo ngayon, ’yun na ’yun. Nakikita niyo naman kung gaano ako kasaya.”
Klea, meanwhile, did not give a direct answer when asked if they were officially together but said: “Nakikita niyo online, kahit saan, ’yun na ’yun. Basta masaya kami… together.”
Both actresses have denied that Janella played any part in Klea’s split with Katrice, with Klea clarifying earlier that there was “no third party” involved.
