Amid the heated discussions on corruption and the rise of so-called “nepo babies” flaunting wealth online, award-winning journalist and TV host Kara David weighed in on the culture of “flexing” on social media.

Guesting on the vodcast ‘Your Honor’, David emphasized that there’s nothing inherently wrong with showing off possessions or achievements—so long as they are earned honestly.
“Okay lang mag-flex kung galing naman sa malinis na paraan,” she said.
David admitted that she also shares posts that may look like flexing, but clarified that her intent is different.
Ang pine-flex ko ay ’yung the fact that I’m 52 and I’m still biking. Na parang kung ako 52 years old at may trabaho na ganito, busy na tao, kaya kong isingit ’yung exercise. Makakaya rin ng iba,” she explained.
She also offered advice to social media users on how to approach flexing responsibly.
Her remarks come at a time when public scrutiny over displays of luxury by relatives of politicians and government contractors has intensified, especially amid ongoing corruption controversies in the country.
