Award-winning actress and filmmaker Alessandra De Rossi didn’t hold back in her latest interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, where she candidly revealed her dislike for doing kissing scenes — describing them as something that makes her feel uncomfortable and even “grossed out.”

When asked by Boy Abunda if she had ever done such scenes before, Alessandra admitted that she had — but the experience left her traumatized.
“Meron, siyempre meron,” she recalled. “Pero nakakadiri siya, number one.”
The actress said she was only around 16 or 17 when she first filmed a kissing scene, and she didn’t expect it to be so intense.
“’Yung first ko kasi, eight shots paikot-ikot. Nasaktan ako, na-realize ko pwede palang mangyari ‘yon — na hindi mo kontrolado, another shot, another take, kiss ulit,” she said.
When she later saw the scene, she admitted it made her reflect deeply.
“Napanood ko siya tapos naisip ko, magiging proud ba ‘yung tatay ko sa akin? Kasi puro lalaki mga kaibigan ko, wala silang nakikitang ganon side ko. Then all of a sudden, biglang ganon,” Alessandra said.
Now that she’s also directing her own films, Alessandra explained that she avoids including love or kissing scenes altogether.
“Ayaw ko. Hindi rin sila required sa films ko. Sa Everyone Knows Every Juan, mayroon kaming konti pero hindi ipapakita. Mababanggit lang. Hindi na kailangan visually ipakita,” she said, emphasizing that intimacy can be suggested without being shown.
Because of her personal principles, Alessandra admitted she lost several roles in major projects that required such scenes.
“Madami akong nawala. ‘Yung isa may exposure kasi kakapanganak pa lang. Or ‘yung isa importante talaga ‘yung love scene. Malaking project sila pero hindi naman ako nagsisi,” she said.
While Alessandra stays firm on her no-kissing rule, she’s now more open to exploring contravida (villain) roles — something she previously avoided.
“Ayoko talaga dati. Pero ngayon siguro meron na akong right na magsalita sa gusto ko. Baka pwede kong hingiin na bigyan ako ng backstory kung bakit ako bad. Para maintindihan naman ako ng mga tao,” she explained.
She believes every antagonist should have depth and motivation, not just malice.
“Kapag nanonood tayo ng teleserye, kapag umiiyak tayo, we really feel empathy for the character. And same sa kontrabida, umiinit talaga ulo mo kapag nakikita mo. I don’t think I need that kind of energy na may nagbabato ng masama sa akin. Pero gusto ko maintindihan siya — bakit siya naging ganon,” she said.
Alessandra recently starred in ‘Green Bones’, the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture, and in the Cinemalaya entry ‘Republika ng Pipolipinas’. Her directorial project ‘Everyone Knows Every Juan’ is set to premiere in cinemas this October.
