TV and social media personality Awra Briguela made a strong statement against corruption, urging Filipinos not to forget or be distracted by new controversies that divert attention from ongoing issues of accountability in government.

The former child star joined the student-led anti-corruption walkout protest held on Wednesday, October 8, at the University of the East (UE)-Manila, where students gathered to demand justice and transparency amid the country’s latest corruption scandals.
In an interview with UE Dawn, Awra expressed frustration over the recurring cycle of government investigations that lead nowhere.
“Parang nangyari na ‘to eh, paulit-ulit na lang—maghe-hearing saglit tapos tatakpan ng panibagong isyu para makalimutan ng mga tao ‘yung totoong nangyari,” Awra said.
The actor added that this time, he hopes the public will remember and continue holding officials accountable.
“Pero sana, this time talaga, hindi makalimot ang bawat Pilipino,” he continued.
Awra emphasized that all citizens—regardless of income—deserve to see their taxes used for genuine public service and national development.
“Malaki ang income mo, maliit, nagbabayad ka ng tax kasi lahat tayo may VAT na binabayaran. Sana lang talaga may malagot at sana maibalik ang mga perang ninakaw kasi deserve na deserve nating mamamayang Pilipinong makuha ang mga ibinigay natin sa magandang pamamaraan,” he declared.
Awra’s participation in the UE protest was met with praise from students and netizens alike, many commending the young celebrity for using his platform to speak up on issues beyond showbiz.
Just days earlier, Awra also took part in UE’s Hiyas ng Silangan 2025, his first-ever university pageant celebrating diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment—proving that he can both champion social causes and express himself with confidence and pride.
