Kapamilya actress-singer and TV host Karylle has candidly addressed questions about her former relationship with Dingdong Dantes and whether there is still room for friendship between them after many years apart.

In her recent guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ (Oct. 1), Karylle was asked about her unexpected reunion with Dingdong when he guested on ‘It’s Showtime’ last June.
“Awkward ba? I did see a lot of clips, and I wouldn’t have put myself in a situation na hindi ako handa siguro,” Karylle explained.
“Sometimes people judge na, ‘Bakit hindi mo hinaharap?’ Minsan hindi ka pa handa, so why would you put yourself in a situation na baka may magawa kang hindi exactly maganda.”
She described the moment as “beautiful,” saying it was a sign that everything was fine between them after their very public breakup in 2008.
“You see, all is well, you know? I think with every public breakup, it’s a bit hard. Even my childhood was like that. I was six years old when that happened to me, and that was very public. You know, to just protect your sanity,” she added.

When asked if she sees herself being friends again with Dingdong, Karylle replied: “I don’t know if ‘friends’ is the word. I would imagine, being people in the same industry, we could support each other. I see that he supports our movie, I did my best to kind of support their own movies, so I think supporting each other, maybe. The friendship, I don’t think is in the cards anymore.”
Karylle and Dingdong were together for three years before parting ways in 2008. Today, both are happily married—Karylle to Sponge Cola frontman Yael Yuzon, and Dingdong to Marian Rivera.
