Actress Kathryn Bernardo and her mother, Min Bernardo, have spoken out against fake posts circulating online that falsely claim the actress criticized President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. over his relief operations for typhoon victims.

The viral quote card, shared by several Facebook pages, alleged that Kathryn said: “Ang tunay na pagtulong ay hindi kailangang ipakita sa kamera o social media… Ang kabutihang galing sa puso ay hindi dapat gawing content o pagkakakitaan.” The post further implied that her message was directed at President Marcos, with one headline reading, “PBBM, sapol sa banat ni Kathryn Bernardo: ‘Hindi kailangan ng camera para tumulong.’”
Both Kathryn’s mother and her management team have since debunked the claims.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, November 11, Mommy Min issued a strong warning to those spreading false stories using her daughter’s name and image.
“Please stop using my daughter’s name or image on your platform, especially if the stories you share are not true or spliced,” she wrote. “A story changes meaning when you add or remove even one word—that’s how fake news starts.”
She also appealed for fairness, saying their family has long chosen silence amid distortions and rumors, but this time she could no longer stay quiet.
“Don’t twist the story just to get more views. It’s unfair! We’ve endured in silence for so long because of dagdag-bawas at pag-twist ng kwento, but silence doesn’t mean we agree. Remember, as a mother, there’s a limit to how much pain and silence one can bear.”
Kathryn’s talent management arm, Star Magic, also released an official statement refuting the fake post.
“Star Magic would like to inform the public that our artist Kathryn Bernardo did not make the remark that is circulating on social media,” the agency said. “We ask everyone not to share the fake post and verify information before sharing.”
Mommy Min reposted Star Magic’s statement on her Facebook page, including screenshots of the misleading posts. She reiterated her plea for netizens and content creators to stop spreading false information about her daughter.
As of this writing, Kathryn has not released a personal statement, but she reposted Star Magic’s advisory on her Instagram Stories—silently echoing her team’s call to stop the spread of fake news.
