Prof. Bengal, the feline-focused sister brand of Dr. Shiba, officially launched Cat Paste Treats, the Philippines’ first functional paste treats for cats, alongside Prof. Bengal’s Kind Kibble. 
The debut was celebrated at Prof. Bengal University, a playful, campus-inspired event held at Pause Pet Lodge that brought together media, veterinarians, and cat parents for a firsthand look at the science and fun behind better feline nutrition.
Carrying forward the same research-first philosophy that made Dr. Shiba a trusted name for dogs, Prof. Bengal’s new line is crafted for the unique needs of cats. Developed with veterinary support and guided by science-backed research, each product aims to make better feline nutrition both enjoyable for pets and effortless for their humans.
“We wanted to make healthier choices accessible for cat parents and irresistible for their cats,” said Philipp ‘Phil’ Renner, Founder and CEO of Dr. Shiba and Prof. Bengal. “Every ingredient in this lineup has a clear purpose, proof that healthy can also be delicious, and affordable.”
The launch marks the country’s first functional paste treats for cats, moving beyond indulgent snack-style pastes toward truly nutritional supplements that deliver tangible health benefits.
Cat Paste Treats combine high palatability with targeted functionality, addressing key feline needs like taurine for vision and heart health, salmon oil for skin and coat, and prebiotics for digestion.
Prof. Bengal’s move into paste form was a natural evolution from its earlier soft chews. Guided by ongoing research and insights from cat parents, the team saw an opportunity to elevate both nutrition and enjoyment. The result is a smooth, aromatic texture designed not just to meet feline preferences but to make daily supplementation something they look forward to.

Following the introduction of Cat Paste Treats, the brand expanding its lineup with Prof. Bengal’s Kind Kibble, a natural progression of its mission to make better feline nutrition both accessible and enjoyable.
Building on the success of Dr. Shiba’s Kind Kibble for Dogs, the cat variant applies the same science-backed approach, made primarily with fresh chicken, chicken liver, and sweet potato, plus nutrient-rich additions like frozen cod and blueberries for complete, balanced daily nutrition without fillers or artificial additives.
Hollywood actress and brand ambassador Liza Hope Soberano joined the launch as a “Visiting Professor,” marking another chapter in her ongoing collaboration with Dr. Shiba and Prof. Bengal. 
Since starting her journey with Dr. Shiba almost two years ago, Soberano has been a consistent advocate for better pet care and nutrition, drawing from her own experience as a devoted fur parent to her dog, Yuna. Now, as a new cat mom to two recently adopted felines, she shared her excitement about discovering Prof. Bengal’s products, saying they’ve become staples in her household. At the event, she spoke about her trust in the brand’s science-backed approach—something she’s witnessed firsthand with Yuna—and how that same philosophy now extends to her cats.
The program also featured Dr. Roxanne Ignacio, DVM, who discussed the growing role of functional nutrition in feline health. She highlighted how Prof. Bengal’s formulations are designed to balance enjoyment and efficacy, helping cat parents provide treats their pets genuinely love while supporting measurable wellness outcomes.
Building on Dr. Shiba’s momentum, which is now in over 1,500 stores across the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UK, and serving over three million customers in just three years, Prof. Bengal represents the next chapter in bringing science-backed wellness to every pet household. 
As the Philippines continues to rank among Asia’s most pet-loving nations, with 94 percent of households owning at least one pet according to Kantar (2024), the need for dedicated feline solutions has never been clearer.
