Moviegoers are eagerly anticipating the return of the beloved barkada of young lawyers in ‘Bar Boys: After School’, the official entry of 901 Studios to the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Directed by Kip Oebanda, the sequel opens in cinemas nationwide on December 25, 2025, bringing with it deeper drama, more intense conflicts, and a raw look into the realities of the legal profession.

Featuring a powerhouse ensemble, the film reunites original cast members Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, Kean Cipriano, and Odette Khan—who returns as the iconic Dean Felicidad. Joining them are fresh faces including Therese Malvar, Emilio Daez, Benedix Ramos, Sassa Gurl, Will Ashley, Klarisse de Guzman, and Bryce Eusebio, who bring new energy to the story.
The sequel follows the four original ‘Bar Boys’ years after they become lawyers. Instead of textbooks and codals, they now face moral dilemmas, political pressure, and the harsh realities of life in the legal sector. A major case reunites them and forces them to confront who they’ve become—and what they truly stand for.
Cast members themselves describe the sequel as far more intense: Carlo Aquino: “Mas mabigat, mas totoo, mas nakayayanig.”
According to Oebanda, viewers need not watch the original film to understand the sequel.
He revealed that the first 30 seconds of the movie will summarize the events of the 2017 film, making Bar Boys: After School a stand-alone narrative that both old fans and new audiences can appreciate.
This chapter introduces a new emotional anchor: their former mentor—portrayed by Odette Khan—falls gravely ill and is abandoned by her own family.
The original barkada, together with a new generation of law students, steps in to care for her. In doing so, they confront a fresh set of ethical struggles and reevaluate their ambitions, discovering that life remains the greatest teacher.
The film is written and crafted by an award-winning trio: Kip Oebanda, known for socially relevant and emotionally resonant films; Zig Dulay, a Gawad Urian winner and director of MMFF Best Picture titles ‘Firefly’ (2023) and ‘Green Bones’ (2024); and Carlo Catu, the youngest director to win Cinemalaya’s Best Film award for ‘Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon’.
Their collaboration ensures that Bar Boys: After School is more than a sequel—it is designed to be a powerful, life-affirming cinematic experience.
The film is produced by 901 Studios, founded by creatives Jon Galvez, Leo Liban, and Carlos Ortiz.
Galvez shared: “The evolution of our creative bond into this studio mirrors the journey of the Bar Boys themselves: chasing dreams and preparing to face the ultimate test of the real game in the Philippine and international film industry.”
With a loyal fanbase built over nearly a decade, the sequel taps into deeply relatable themes—the struggles of early adulthood, navigating career expectations, and learning from mistakes.
As the MMFF season approaches, industry watchers expect Bar Boys: After School to become one of the festival’s emotional favorites.
‘Bar Boys: After School’ screens nationwide starting December 25, promising a story that will inspire, challenge, and move audiences this Christmas season—reminding viewers that no matter how far we go from our dreams, we remain lifelong students of life.
