Actress-host Anne Curtis addressed the controversy surrounding her viral response to a netizen who criticized the English-heavy dialogue in her upcoming film ‘The Loved One’, explaining that her comment was never meant to offend and was simply part of a lighthearted exchange.

The issue began after a netizen complained online about the film’s dialogue, saying it was irritating because of the frequent use of English. Anne replied bluntly with, “Di ’wag kang manood,” a response that quickly went viral and was turned into memes across social media platforms.
During the media conference for ‘The Loved One’, Anne clarified the context of her statement.
“Medyo Taglish dito. Medyo may English-English. Kaya kung ayaw ninyo, e ‘di wag kayo manood,” she said, adding that the remark was not meant to carry any deeper meaning.
She further explained that the comment was part of her usual candid banter.
“Honestly, that wasn’t meant to blow up how it did. Parang, kunwari, si Vice (Ganda). Kunwari si Vice yung kausap ko at sinabi niya, ‘Ano ba yung movie niyo? Puro English.’ Ganun ko rin naman siya sasagutin. It wasn’t meant to be like a pataray. Parang ganun lang yun,” Anne shared.
The actress also admitted that she has her off days, just like anyone else.
“Alam mo, minsan nasa ganun akong lugar na ngayon, baka hindi maganda gising ko. But that’s okay. Sometimes we have our days and that day was my day. So, tao lang naman tayo,” she said.
Anne’s co-star Jericho Rosales joined in on the lighthearted mood and joked about the situation.
“Ako naman sasabihin ko huwag kang manood. Joke lang. Ako binayaran ko ‘yung tao na ’yun para manood ng movie namin,” Rosales quipped, drawing laughter from the room.
Despite the brief controversy, public interest in ‘The Loved One’ continues to grow. The film marks the reunion of Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales and is directed by Irene Villamor. It is scheduled to open in Philippine cinemas on February 11.
Anne also shared that the project came at the right time in her career.
“Nakakatuwa lang. It happened all in the right time. And now it’s going to be shared with everyone at the perfect time,” she said. (with reports from Cassiopeia Janelle Calamaya)
