Veteran actress Snooky Serna drew laughter and surprise during the media conference of GMA Network’s afternoon series ‘House of Lies’ after sharing a candid story from her teenage years involving actor Albert Martinez.
As part of a game segment, cast members were asked to reveal two statements about their lives—one true and one a lie. Serna offered two claims: first, that Maricel Soriano was originally chosen for her 1986 blockbuster ‘Blusang Itim’; and second, that she and Martinez attempted to elope several times but never pushed through.
Moments later, Serna clarified which statement was which, admitting she worried Martinez might react to the revelation.
The actress explained that the story about eloping was true, while the claim about Soriano being the first choice for ‘Blusang Itim’ was the lie. According to Serna, the film was initially offered to Alma Moreno before eventually landing in her hands.
Serna then shared details of the elopement attempts in a lighthearted manner.
“Nagtanan kami ni Albert Martinez at fifteen,” she said. “Tatlong beses pa nga as a matter of fact. Pero hindi natutuloy kasi pagka-’yung papunta na sa Huwes/Judge, ’wag naman magagalit si Albert e, hinihika siya. So, hindi natutuloy.”
She added context to the story by recalling how their relationship began.
“Paano napunta dun sa pagtanan? E ganun talaga, e first love ko si Albert.”
Members of the entertainment press present at the ‘House of Lies’ conference speculated that Martinez would likely take the revelation in stride, noting the humorous way Serna told the story.
The anecdote was not entirely new to longtime fans. In a May 10, 2023 episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, Serna had previously revealed that Martinez was her “first love,” sharing that they nearly eloped in Antipolo when she was just 15 years old. She also said at the time that her parents were supportive of their relationship, despite her young age.
