The Stories That Led ‘KMJS’ to Number 1 in 2025

In a media landscape shaped by speed and constant distraction, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) stands apart by staying rooted in stories that explain, connect, and matter.

For more than two decades, KMJS has been a fixture in Filipino households, transforming viral moments, public service stories, emotional reunions, and in depth interviews with newsmakers and influential figures into meaningful television.

In 2025, the program sharpened this mission by placing stronger emphasis on investigative reporting that tackled community issues and corruption with depth and accountability.

During Sunday nights, when many expected audiences to favor lighter entertainment, viewers instead tuned in, with strong ratings and digital engagement affirming that Filipinos remain drawn to stories that help them understand the realities shaping their lives.

A Year of Impact and Record Ratings

From January to December 2025, KMJS emerged once again as the most watched program in the Philippines. Data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement showed that the program recorded a combined GMA and GTV people rating of 12.8 percent in Total Philippines and 14.4 percent in Urban Philippines.

This performance secured KMJS the distinction of being the number one program nationwide for the second consecutive year, having also topped the ratings in 2024. More than a numerical milestone, the achievement reflects the program’s sustained credibility and the continued trust of Filipino viewers.

A Digital Footprint with Global Reach

While television remains its home, KMJS’ stories now reach Filipinos wherever they are in the world, extending far beyond the Sunday night broadcast.

For 2025, KMJS videos recorded a total of 4.7 billion views across platforms, with 1.6 billion views on Facebook, 1.8 billion on TikTok, and 1.3 billion on YouTube. As of January 2026, the program has built a digital following of more than 45 million across social media platforms.

These figures reflect not only reach, but relevance. Viewers are not simply consuming content, but actively engaging with stories that reflect their concerns, questions, and hopes.

“We owe our ratings and metrics to our loyal viewers and followers,” said Soho on KMJS’ continued success. “Maraming, maraming salamat po. 2025 was KMJS’ 20th and most challenging year. We would not have made it without your loyalty and support.”

Stories That Spark Conversations

Jessica Soho marked her 40th year in broadcasting in 2025, a milestone that coincided with one of the most sustained and demanding periods of investigative reporting in her career. While investigative journalism has long been central to her work, 2025 stood out for the scope and consistency of field reports she personally led across the country.

During the year, Soho covered major earthquakes in Cebu and Davao, documented the devastation brought by Typhoons Tino and Uwan, and reported from mining sites in Rizal and Palawan that have long been opposed by local communities. She also examined dredging activities linked to shoreline erosion in Zambales, reinforcing her commitment to ground-level reporting on issues with lasting impact.

Central to this renewed investigative push was the Katakot takot na Kurakot series, which has reached its 16th installment as of this writing. The special, which examined alleged corruption and anomalous government projects, became a lightning rod for public discourse and emerged as the most watched KMJS segment online in 2025, with more than 90 million views across Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.

Extended interviews from the series were later adapted into the KMJS Podcast, where audiences tuned in to long form conversations focused on the country’s most pressing issues. The response reaffirmed that Filipinos continue to have a strong appetite for serious journalism, and that when it comes to issues of national importance, Jessica Soho remains a trusted voice.

Setting the Gold Standard

In 2025, Soho’s integrity and influence were further affirmed through invitations to speak at major academic and leadership gatherings, where audiences raised their phones not to capture a celebrity moment, but to listen closely to a journalism icon.

Among these engagements were the 2025 National Schools Press Conference and the Global Youth Summit. She also served as Commencement Speaker at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where excerpts from her address circulated widely on social media and resonated with a new generation inspired by her commitment to truth and public service.

Public trust in Soho was likewise reflected in a series of recognitions, including being named one of PeopleAsia’s People of the Year 2026, her inclusion in Tatler Asia’s Most Influential 2025 list, and her distinction as one of the six inaugural inductees to the Rolling Stone Hall of Fame.

At the Heart of the Filipino Story

In 2025, KMJS used its platform not just to highlight the latest issues, but to help Filipinos understand the stories that matter. These were not mere headlines, but reflections of everyday realities and choices shaping the nation. By treating storytelling as a call to awareness and action, KMJS affirmed its role as a space where the national conversation takes form.

“We promise to continue telling the stories of our country and our people, the best way we possibly can. We have always believed in the power of stories to not only inspire and change lives, but to shine a light on issues that our people need to know,” Soho added in closing.

This enduring relevance and trust, built over more than two decades on Philippine television, explain why Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho remains the number one television program in the Philippines.

Catch Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho every Sunday at 8:20 PM on GMA 7. Full episodes and extended interviews are available on the KMJS Facebook page and the GMA Public Affairs YouTube channel. For more updates on GMA Network, visit www.gmanetwork.com.
