Newly launched MiVida Productions, Inc. is making a clear declaration of intent with its maiden feature, ‘Batang Paco’, starring Empoy Marquez.

For first-time producer Ana Abiera del Moral, ‘Batang Paco’ is more than an inaugural project—it is a “statement piece” meant to define the kind of stories MiVida wants to be known for: personal, fearless, and deeply rooted in emotion.
The family comedy-drama centers on Paco, a shy and soft-spoken tattoo artist who never saw himself as a hero—until his child is taken from him. Forced into a dangerous and unfamiliar world, Paco’s journey becomes not just a suspense-driven narrative, but a deeply Filipino story about fear, faith, and unconditional parental love.
Marquez delivers a performance that moves away from broad comedy and leans into vulnerability, blending humor with emotional restraint. His portrayal underscores the film’s central idea: heroism does not come from perfection or invincibility, but from love that leaves no room for retreat.
“Hindi kailangang maging perpekto para maging bayani,” Marquez shared. “Kapag pagmamahal na ang nagtutulak sa’yo, may lakas kang hindi mo inaasahan.”
Providing emotional balance to the story is Aiai delas Alas, whose performance grounds the film in warmth and lived-in humanity. Known for comedy anchored in truth, she brings both humor and emotional weight, reinforcing the film’s message that laughter and pain often coexist in real life.
The ensemble cast also includes Mon Confiado, Ynez Veneracion, Chichi Rita, and Cassy Lavarias, alongside Richard Quan, Alma Concepcion, Lara Morena, Natasha Ledesma, Kookoo Gonzales, Gerard Acao, Josh Ivan Morales, Kim Rodriguez, Jovi Vargas, and Quentin Molo.
Directed by Rechie del Carmen and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa, ‘Batang Paco’ avoids spectacle in favor of emotional truth, positioning itself as a film about quiet bravery—where purpose, not power, drives the most courageous acts.
As MiVida Productions’ first offering, ‘Batang Paco’ sets the tone for the company’s creative direction, signaling a commitment to stories that resonate on a deeply human level. The film opens in cinemas nationwide on February 18. (with reports from Loyd Pino)
