Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts Romel Chika and Wendell Alvarez expressed deep gratitude to Bea Alonzo after announcing that their respective camps have reached a settlement in connection with the cyber libel case filed against them.
The case stemmed from complaints lodged by Alonzo on May 2, 2024 against Fermin, Ogie Diaz, and their co-hosts over statements made on their online platforms.
In a recent episode of their show, Fermin confirmed that Alonzo accepted their explanation and extended appreciation to the actress and her legal team.
“‘Yung amin pong paliwanag ay tinanggap ni Miss Bea Alonzo. Ang pagpapakumbaba namin, hindi lang po kami pati si Bea Alonzo po, nagpakumbaba. Inintindi niya kami kung paanong inunawa din po namin ang kanyang trabaho.
“Pinaliwanag po namin sa kanya na kahit kailan, wala po kaming ninais na siya’y saktan, siya’y sirain o wasakin. Walang-wala po. Sa pagkakataong po ito, nais po naming magpasalamat kay Miss Bea Alonzo, sa kanyang pamilya at sa kanyang mga abogado.
“Bea Alonzo salamat sa pang-unawa mo sa aming hanay. Kung paanong nirerespeto ka rin namin at pinahahalagahan namin ang iyong sining,” Fermin said.
Alonzo’s camp later released an official statement confirming that she has chosen to forgive following two years of legal proceedings, with the case pending before the Regional Trial Court.
“After two years of legal proceedings & with the case pending before the Regional Trial Court, this matter has run its course under the law. The process has not been easy for any party involved. It has required accountability, reflection & fortitude.
“It is within this context that I share the perspective that led our client, Ms. Bea Alonzo, to consider resolving this matter through mediation.
“This decision is neither an act of retreat nor concession. Rather, it is an act of resolve, anchored in forgiveness.
“Upon deep reflection, Ms. Alonzo has chosen to forgive. Not out of weakness but out of strength. Not to erase what was done, but to free herself from a cycle of harm & hostility that no longer serves her life or her purpose.
“She views this chapter not as something to carry forward but as something to close, with grace, dignity & peace.
“Moving forward, Ms. Alonzo wishes to focus on what truly matters, her work, her advocacies & her role as a woman who uplifts others, particularly those navigating their own silent battles.
“We ask that this moment be seen for what it truly is. Not merely an ending, but a powerful expression of emotional maturity, personal growth & courage.
“We thank all those who continue to respect both the legal process & the humanity behind it.”
Reports also surfaced that another individual previously accused of spreading false claims about Alonzo had earlier apologized and was likewise forgiven by the actress.
