Talent manager and vlogger Ogie Diaz came to the defense of Liza Soberano after the actress was dragged into an online dispute involving the mother of Andrea Brown, the woman currently rumored to be dating actor Enrique Gil.

The issue began when Andrea’s mother, Arlyn Opeña, took to social media to call out what she claimed were attacks from Liza’s fans. In her post, Opeña directly mentioned Soberano and urged her to “control” her supporters, accusing them of repeatedly targeting her and her daughter. She also questioned why fans allegedly interpreted her posts as “patama” or indirect attacks against Liza.
The remarks quickly drew reactions from Liza’s fans, who defended the actress and criticized Opeña for dragging her name into the issue. The situation escalated further when Ogie Diaz, Liza’s former talent manager of more than a decade, publicly addressed the matter.
In a post reacting to Opeña’s statements, Diaz questioned the basis of her accusations and stressed that Soberano should not be blamed for the actions of anonymous online users.
“Mommy, ano ang kinalaman ni Liza Soberano sa pambabash sa’yo ng mga fans? Paano mo naman nasabing legit fans niya talaga ‘yon?” Diaz wrote.
He emphasized that Liza has no control over the emotions or behavior of people online and should not be ordered to intervene.
“Hindi naman niya hawak ang emosyon ng mga bashers mo. Huwag mo siyang utusan,” Diaz added, advising Opeña instead to ignore the attacks and avoid engaging with them unless she was enjoying the attention.
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil were once one of the most popular loveteams in Philippine showbiz under the name LizQuen, both on-screen and in real life. Liza confirmed last year that they had broken up several years ago. Since then, she has been linked to businessman Jeffrey Oh, while Enrique has recently been rumored to be dating Andrea Brown.
The issue comes amid renewed public attention on Ogie Diaz and Liza Soberano’s relationship, following their recent reconnection after three years of not speaking. Earlier this year, Diaz revealed in his YouTube vlog that Liza responded to his public birthday greeting, marking a thaw in their previously strained relationship.
Despite past misunderstandings, Diaz reiterated his gratitude toward the actress and their years of working together, saying he could never forget her.
Liza, meanwhile, continues to focus on her international career. She is set to appear in the animated film ‘Forgotten Island’ alongside Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, and H.E.R., and previously earned praise from American critics for her Hollywood debut in ‘Lisa Frankenstein.’
