Miss Cosmo 2025 runner-up Chelsea Fernandez publicly criticized broadcaster Jay Sonza after his controversial remarks about actress and TV host Anne Curtis circulated online.

The issue stemmed from Curtis’ recent statement condemning the controversial remarks made by Bong Suntay, which she described as a “vulgar and sexualized analogy” involving her name.
In a Facebook post dated March 8, Sonza resurfaced several throwback photos of Curtis and criticized the actress for speaking out against the congressman.
According to Sonza, Curtis’ career supposedly involved “arousing men,” questioning why she would now complain about the reaction.
“Yung career mo was precisely about arousing men. Then when a man told you he is aroused by you, magagalit ka. Anong klaseng katangahan naman iyon.”
He also commented on the actress’ clothing in the photos, saying: “Tingnan mo nga iyang suot mo, pakiwari ko ay matris na lang ang hindi nakabuyangyang diyan.”
Sonza further argued that displays of sexuality should have limits, adding that “a little decency should have been considered,” noting that his post was made on International Women’s Day.
Fernandez shared Sonza’s post on her own social media page and strongly criticized his remarks, saying she initially thought it was merely meant to provoke reactions online.
“Please tell me this is just rage bait. Please tell me this is just for clicks because there’s no way this is real.”
She added: “Basta ang alam ko may kadiring mindset ka po!”
Curtis had earlier released a lengthy statement addressing the controversy involving Suntay. She said she felt shocked, hurt, and disturbed after her name was used in what she described as a vulgar analogy.
She also emphasized that the issue reflects a broader problem regarding how women are treated in public discourse.
“Misogyny dressed up as a joke is still misogyny.”
The actress also revealed that she is seeking legal advice and considering her options, while urging the House ethics committee to examine the incident.
As of this writing, Sonza has not issued a response to Fernandez’s criticism.
